Party Tips & FAQ's

We have been entertaining and DJ'ing for over 15 years and we have picked up a few things.

 

Below is a list of great tips for you to consider when trying to organise the perfect stress-free party...

Party tips

Book your entertainer before your venue...


It is much easier to find a venue for your party than find an entertainer for your venue. A list of local venues can be found here.




Make your party easy to find...


Both your guest and your entertainer will benefit from simple things like balloons outside the venue. Signs can also be fun too.




Pick a venue that has plenty parking...


Your guests may arrive late if they have to find somewhere to park. It may also complicate and affect any set up time if your entertainer cannot park.




Choose a venue the right size for your party...


Ideally, your party guest will have plenty of room to dance and move about without the venue having a terrible acoustic problem. Your ears will thank you after the party. Having a smaller venue will also make the grown ups more engaged with the party too.




Have your party at home...


If your home will accommodate it, it will be cheaper and make your party time more flexible. Just be sure to clear a space big enough for all the children to sit in a circle. Ideally, you should also clear away any toys. If you're having your party in the garden make sure you have cover for the children and your entertainer's equipment. Rain will otherwise likely stop your party.




Preparing food...


If you want to serve a small meal, keep the party food offerings simple. Familiar snacks like pizza or sandwiches work well and can be turned into special party food by using cookie cutters to make star-shaped sandwiches or heart-shaped pizza.

If parents are dropping off children at the party, be sure you know about any food allergies.

It's best to avoid anything with nuts (including peanut butter sandwiches) because so many children are allergic to them.

Or you can always order in to save time. Food breaks are normally organised for half way through your party so try and aim the delivery for 5 or 10 mins before to allow for the delivery to be running late. We can always work around this too.




Guest list...


Keep track of who you've invited to the party, as well as who has RSVP'd and any special requests.

Big is not always best - don't get trapped into inviting everyone your child has ever known.




Involve the birthday child in the planning...


If your child is old enough, sit down with them and offer a few suggestions for the birthday party theme - to avoid disappointment perhaps write down the options you are prepared to invest your time and money in and then let them choose from the list.

Don't ask your child to come up with the party plan because tears may follow when you say no to a petting zoo on your apartment balcony.




Present opening...


Do you or don't you open presents with your party guests?

Opening presents after everyone has gone home is much less stressful (there is no one to hear your child announce he or she doesn't like the present) and you are less likely to lose bits and pieces if you are on hand. It is also a wonderful way to end a day.

If you open presents after everyone has left, it's nice to send thank you notes. Ask your child to tell you why they loved each gift and include it in the note. Some editing may be required.




Best friends...


If your child has a best friend make sure they can come on the date you are planning for the party before you go ahead with bookings and invitations.

The day just won't be the same without their partner in crime by their side.




When to have your party...


Weekend parties are better for younger children and family can attend too, while older children will enjoy an after-school party if you can manage it.

They love spending all day in anticipation of going home together, plus your party won't clash with Saturday sport.

If you are planning a Sunday party, keep in mind some people attend church in the morning.





 

Frequently asked questions

What age groups can you cater for?


We can cater for all ages 3+. We can also cater for mixed aged parties.




Do you give away any prizes at children's parties?


Balloon prizes are given away for competitions but are also given to every child at the end of the party (Under 12's). You can add a prize package so that every child gets a toy to take home.




What sort of things do you do at children's parties?


There are a range of different games to play and activities to do at birthday parties including:

Do you have public liability insurance?


Yes, we are fully insured by Equity for upto £10m.




How much time do you need to set up and pack away?


It will take approximately 30 minutes to set up equipment and pack away, perhaps a little longer for adult discos. Please let us know of any stairways or access routes which could make set up take a little longer than usual.




Are you CRB/DBS checked?


DBS is the new CRB and yes we are fully police checked.




How much space do you need?


We can work in pretty much any space. It doesn’t matter if it’s big or small, as long as any children have enough room to sit in a circle and have room to move around and dance. Please bare in mind that our equipment will take up the space of a standard 3 seater sofa.




Do you cater for children with special needs or requirements?


Of course, we will discuss with hosting adult(s) prior to the party to ensure that appropriate care is provided for the child and all their needs catered for properly.




What equipment do you use?


We use a range of equipment for our events including: Professional disco entertainment equipment

Can I have my event at home?


Of course you can, we can cater for any event inside your home or outdoors in the garden. Cover will need to be provided for outdoor events though for all electrical equipment if the weather isn't perfect.




Is there a maximum number of guests?


Not at all, the more the merrier.




Is there a minimum number of guests?


Not exactly, however it is strongly recommended that you have at least 15 children.




Can we give you a song list we like?


Of course you can. We will discuss with hosting adult(s) prior to the birthday party to cater for any personal tastes or requirements.




What type of sweets do you provide?


We only provide sweets if the hosting adult(s) request them. We will discuss with you which type of sweets would be preferred for the party bags or pinata prior to the party too.




Can you provide references?


Yes we can, please see our reviews page for some superb references from some of our previous happy customers.




What happens if need to cancel my party?


Deposits are only transferable and not refundable. We will gladly try and help you find another date for your party should you need to change but unfortunately if you cancel your booking you will lose your deposit. In addition to this, if, after forwarding your deposit, you wish to cancel the booking, we need to be informed, in writing/email. Please observe our cancellation policy for ALL bookings, as below: 1) Cancellation made more than 6 months in advance will loose holding deposit. 2) Cancellation made less than 6 months in advance lose 25% of total booking fee 3) Cancellation made less than 1 months in advance lose 50% of total booking fee 4) Cancellation made less than 14 days in advance lose 100% of total booking fee The cancellation fee will be taken from your payment card.




Can I order more party bags or sweet cones?


Of course you can. Please give us plenty of notice as to how many extra party bags you would like. Not found the answer to your question? Send us an email




What payment methods do you accept?


We accept all major credit cards and debit cards. In some circumastances (mostly for corporate bookings) we also accept Bacs payments or Cheques. We do not accept payment via any other payment method at this time.




Do I have to pay upfornt for your services?


Generally we will only ask for a depsoit to secure your booking, the balance is then paid on the day. If you would prefer to pay upfront however we can accomodate this.
